Great jeans
The Gap was established in San Francisco in 1969 by Don and Dorris Fisher. Perhaps being a 'love child' of the sixties had something to do with the success of this apparel giant. Don established The Gap with a vision, "to make it easier to find a great pair of jeans". The Gap philosophy is about helping people express their individual style. Gap jeans now ranks as the second biggest jean brand in the United States, second only to the venerable Levi's.
In 2004 Gap signed the "Ethical Trading Initiative" and is working to improve the conditions in their factories and to be more involved in the communities where they do business. They have also released a "Social Responsibility Report" which documents the complexities of running thousands of factories around the world and demonstrates their efforts to reduce any negative effects they've brought on the environment and increase their positive effect on the communities where factories exist.
